Blogging through Microsoft Word
As read on the Google Blog, blogger.com offers their users to blog via Microsoft Word. All that is needed is a macro which is easily installed through a Setup-exe file, downloadable from their website.I think this is a very straight forward way to get people start blogging, who else would probably never bother blogging as they cannot or don't want to learn yet another interface to publish something (not to mention the difficulties of submit buttons and the like). With this macro it's as easy as starting a new Word document, typing some text and finally hit the "publish..." button.
I think the blogger.com way is much more efficient than using one of those many desktop blogging tools because:
- no need to install another application
- no need to get used to/learn a new interface
- rather good spellchecker
- Articles can be saved in a format (.doc) most people are used to and see it as the de-facto standard (I don't like it, but that's how it is)
I'd really like to see such a macro opensourced, using some standard xml protocoll to publish posts to any more advanced blogging software.
